At what age did you start seriously training and competing in your sport(s)?

I started racing and training seriously around 15 years of age.

What (and/or who) got you started in the sport?

I was always interested in cycling at a young age but tried lots of other different sports. My Dad did a little bit of racing when he was younger and works in the cycling industry so I was always around bikes. It took me a while to try to convince my parents to let me take up Cycling but they finally agreed and I never have looked back.

Are other family members involved in sport?

My dad competed for a little while when he was younger.

Who has been the biggest influence in your sporting career?

I have two very close family friends in Tony Hughes and Rik McCaig. They are two very big names of cycling in Bendigo and have looked after me from a young age. They have taught me so much and put so much time in me. I have also had the help of former Australian Road Race Champion Darren Lapthorne who I do most of my training with and he gave me my current coach.

Who has been the biggest influence in your academic life?

My mum who is a teacher and has always encouraged me to do my best.

Do you support any other sport and/or teams?

I like to watch AFL and support Hawthorn.

How do you relax? Do you have other life interests outside of your sport?

When I'm not training I try to relax but either reading or listening to music.

What is one thing that might surprise readers to learn about you
I enjoy doing my own cooking and finding lots of new recipes.

What is your favourite food? Movie? Music/performer?

My favourite food is Mexican and I'll listen to a bit of anything.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

We all make mistakes but it is how you learn from those mistakes and improve.

Do you have a saying or motto that you live your life by?

Perseverance is not a long race, it is many short races one after the other.
