At what age did you start seriously training and competing in your sports?
What got you started in the sport?
The sailing school at Somers Yacht Club got me started but James Wierzbowski got me interested in competing and helped develop my sailing until I was recognised and picked up by Yachting Victoria and a local coach.
Are other family members involved in sport?
My sister Meagan started sailing after me and also came 8th at the Hobie 16 world championships in the womens section.
Who has been the biggest influence in your sporting career?
My youth coach Robbie Lovig brought organisation and professionalism to my sailing as well as opening up a whole new level of thinking and understanding to boat physics and aerodynamics. James Wierzbowski provided me with a means of learning about high level racing and how to race competitively as well as motivating me and opening up the world of competitive youth racing and the Youth World Sailing Championships.
Who has been the biggest influence in your academic life?
Robbie has been the biggest influence by guiding me through year 12 and preventing me from making the same mistakes he made when studying and also competing at the Youth World Sailing Championships back in 2001.
How do you relax? Do you have other life interests outside of your sport?
I like reading books and in winter snowboarding. Another big thing I like to do is hike and in 2013 I walked the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea with my secondary school.
