An article about the Group's research involving the newly-funded HF radar has been published at La Trobe University Bulletin (pdf of article).

December 2006

Professor David Southwood, Director of Science of European Space Agency, will be presenting a public lecture “Space Science in Europe: what we’ve done, what we plan and why we do it” on Friday, 8th December, 2006 in Village Roadshow Theatrette, State Library Victoria, Entry 3, La Trobe Street, Melbourne. March 2006

A former PhD student of Prof Peter Dyson, Dr Endawoke Yizengaw, won the 2006 University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) Chancellor's Award for Postdoctoral Research for his research into the ionosphere-magnetosphere coupling using GPS TEC data. Out of 1,155 Post-docs at UCLA, 22 were nominated and he was one of 5 awarded the prize. Along with a plaque Dr Yizengaw was awarded a check for $3000 dollars.

October 2005

A review article on the history of the radar research in New Zealand "The Antecendents and Subsequent Development of Scientific Radar in New Zealand" by Dr Graham Fraser of University of Canterbury, New Zealand is published in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics. The paper features pioneering works by Dr Robert Unwin of DSIR after whom the newly deployed TIGER New Zealand radar has been named.
