School of Social Work and Social Policy (Albury-Wodonga)

The School of Social Work and Social Policy prepares undergraduate and postgraduate students for the practice of professional social work and human services. This preparation is in accordance with current and likely social conditions, occupational opportunities, intervention strategies and key value principles.

The aim is to stimulate students to develop a substantial knowledge about and critical analysis of the nature of society. Students explore patterns of distribution of opportunities and resources, societies range of beliefs and customs and the relationship of individuals to each other and to the wider society. Students develop an understanding of the nature of social policy and in particular its aims, nature, range, politics and value bases.

    A final year social work student at La Trobe's Albury-Wodonga Campus is heading off to Ireland to complete her study. Rachel Habgood leaves for Dublin on Sunday to undertake her final 14 week field placement in a leading child protection agency.

It is a careers information and resource tool for Secondary Students, teachers, parents, and other interested parties. It aims to introduce students to occupations in HEALTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES and provides opportunities for career exploration in this very large and growing industry.
