Sandy Gifford is the Director of the La Trobe Refugee Research Centre in the School of Social Sciences. Sandy has had a long standing commitment in refugee settlement and wellbeing. In 2001, she helped to establish the Research Unit at the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture. She has a commitment to using innovative research methods and to projects which provides a space for voices of people who have been forcibly displaced and who have grappled with the many challenges of resettling and making a life in a new country.
