Dr Envall’s research interests cover Japanese politics, Japan’s defence and foreign affairs, political leadership, and the international relations of the Asia Pacific. His most recent article, published in Japanese Studies in September, examines the influence of Koizumi Junichiro, a recent Japanese prime minister, on political leadership in Japan. Dr Envall has been the book reviews editor for the Electronic Journal of Contemporary Japanese Studies since 2001.
