Qualifications: Dra (Gajah Mada); GradDipEd (Hawthorn Inst. of Ed.); MA (La Trobe), PhD (Melbourne)

Novi Djenar obtained her first degree (Doctorandus) in English literature from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Prior to joining La Trobe, she was an English teacher at Mangere College, Auckland, New Zealand. Her current research interests include language variation and change, the semantics of person-referring terms, youth and language in Indonesia, the concept of ‘place’ in spoken and written discourse, and the relations between speech and writing.
