Qualifications: BA Hons Development Studies (La Trobe)

My undergraduate degree in Development Studies fostered my interest in issues of forced displacement, the refugee experience, and resettlement of refugees in Australia. Working with young refugees through the Good Starts Study has moved me to undertake post graduate studies in Adolescent Health and Welfare, which I am completing part-time whilst working on Good Starts.

Research Projects

Good Starts Study for Refugee Youth

  • I have been a Research Assistant at RHRC on the Good Starts Study for Refugee Youth for the past two years. This role involves working with refugee youth resettled across Melbourne’s suburbs to identify the factors that promote health and wellbeing among newly arrived young people. I keep in regular contact with project participants, and work with the young people in a variety of settings including school, local libraries, and their homes to gain an understanding of the key transitions and challenges facing resettled refugee youth.
  • I also maintain and regularly update the RHRC Refugee Health Bibliography. This growing online bibliography makes available key references relating to RHRC’s research priority areas.
