Primary Discipline/backgroundIgnacio has a background in Medicine with a postgraduate degree in Family Medicine and Community Health. Before coming to Australia he worked as a clinician and lecturer at two Colombian Medical Schools. His work in Colombia focused on family health, community development and human nutrition. He has a PhD in Population Health from the University of Queensland. PublicationsCurrent Research In 2006 Ignacio was awarded a 4-year National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. He is currently the Chief Investigator of a NHMRC-funded longitudinal study of refugee men’s health and resettlement. Ignacio has a particular interest in healthcare use and health outcomes among refugee communities, and healthcare and human rights issues relevant to asylum seekers. Graduate SupervisionIgnacio is currently co-supervising postgraduate students who are undertaking research in the areas of refugee resettlement and the methodological issues involved in cross-cultural/refugee research.
