- Thailand and International Studies
My prime research is a three year funded ARC Discovery Project on international agencies, national identity, development and NGOs in Thailand. As part of that project I anticipate a monograph entitled “Politics, Culture and Development in Contemporary Thailand” to be published in late 2007/early 2008. The book will present an overview of contemporary Thai politics in relation to the themes of culture and development. This is contracted to ZED. I anticipate a further monograph which will present the result of field work funded by the ARC.
- International Relations of the Asia Pacific
The text “The New Global Politics of the Asia Pacific” is being updated and new chapters added. This requires primary research on recent developments.
- The Politics of Democratization and International Democracy Promotion
I am applying the critical approach to the role of ideology in democracy building to the politics of international democracy and good governance promotion.
