Andrew is a lecturer with 15 years practical experience in planning. His research interests are: Land use planning and regional development, planning theory and practice, regional development theory and techniques, approaches to planning research and practice, cultural activity in urban regeneration, and rural planning. TeachingMy teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level focuses on planning practice, social and environmental change and rural and regional planning. I also have a strong interest in student work relating to participatory planning activity and planning in developing economies. Research Projects My research includes investigations of the processes and practice of planning in non-metropolitan settings. In particular, I am interested in the way in which land use planners operate as professionals in a context where drivers of change often sit outside of the limits of planning action. PublicationsProfessional Involvements Until recently, I have been involved in the establishment of an international planner’s forum within the Irish Planning Institute. I also have an interest in planning as a tool for local sustainability in rural Australia.
