Bree Morton

Bachelor of Public Health (Health Promotion)

I began my degree in Public health in the year 2001. I have always had an interest in holistic health care and throughout my VCE had hopes of becoming a naturopath. In the final stages of my VCE I changed my mind about naturopathy and looked into health promotion degrees, I didn't know much about it, but from what I had read it sounded interesting.

Graduating in 2004 I can honestly say that I loved my three years at La Trobe Bendigo and over the three years developed a passion for public health, particularly rural health.

After graduating, I worked at a community health centre in Kerang for twelve months as a project worker and as Freeza coordinator.

Today I'm working as a health promotion officer at a Multi Purpose Service in Apollo Bay. Working in a multi purpose service has been a great experience, the service supports and values community development and health promotion as core services, which is fantastic for the community. Working in an isolated rural area has also been a challenge with the MPS being the primary service for almost everything, I find myself wearing all sorts of hats which is the beauty of having such a flexible degree. Every day I value the skills and knowledge that I gained from my degree.
