Friends of Screening the past

 

To date Screening the past has been dependent on start up grants from its "parent" institution, the Australian Film Commission, and sponsorship in-kind from such organisations as Film Australia. Screening the past is run entirely by volunteers with the exception of some services such as translations. Our major expenses are payments for audio-visual rights which are likely to become more onerous as the journal expands.

Increasingly we are being required to find alternate means of funding, but the nature of the journal means it has few avenues for sponsorship. Given the non-profit philosophy of the journal and our aim to make our material available to the widest possible audience a paid subscription fee is not an option.

In order for Screening the past to remain a viable publication the editors are therefore asking readers who recognise the value of this innovative, scholastic project to help the journal survive.

Suggested contributions are US$10 for students, US$20 for individuals, and US$100 for groups such as companies, schools and universities, and libraries (Special arrangements exist for Australian readers). Of course, you may contribute as much or little as you choose, and contributions of any size are greatly appreciated. If you wish to contribute by cash, check, money order, or invoice (or if you aren't comfortable using your credit card on the Internet), download and use the Kagi Register application instead.
