Work Ready Science

Work Ready Science (WRS) offers you the chance to build your future career from the moment you start your course. This program focuses on the transition between university and the workforce by building your experience and developing the skills employers value.

The overall objective of Work Ready is to give students a competitive advantage, by learning to communicate achievements and experiences to an employer in a competent and confident manner.

WRS is available at La Trobe University’s Melbourne, Bendigo and Albury-Wodonga campuses.

How does it work?

WRS is integrated into the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Science (Applications in Society) degrees, allowing you to develop employment related skills whilst gaining credit towards your science degree.

The program also credits extra-curricular activities such as:

Graduating with an edge

WRS is designed to develop key communication skills and industry connections so that as a graduate, you are well-positioned when entering the workforce.

You will leave with:

  • Certificate of completion for Work Ready Science
  • Acknowledgement of completion on your academic transcript.
  • An e-portfolio.

E-portfolio

As a WRS student you will use PebblePad, an online Personal Learning System, to record your studies and achievements, and develop an e-portfolio. Your e-portfolio can be customised to suit each job you apply for, outlining the relevant expertise you have acquired from your degree and WRS.

The e-portfolio remains with you after graduation which gives you a solid foundation to build on as you keep developing new skills beyond university.
