Meet our student
Ms Jessie Sinclair
Animal Keeper, Live Exhibits Unit, Melbourne Museum
Course of study:
Bachelor of Conservation Biology and Ecology (Honours) 2004
I am involved in the collection, display, breeding and maintenance of a wide variety of animals. Our displays are designed to interpret concepts and habitats rather than purely for sensation experiences. Our exhibits are in the Forest Gallery - a living forest, and Bugs Alive! - an exploration of the world of invertebrates. We also have smaller displays of marine life, frogs, eels, cichlids and others.
Because our department is at the forefront of invertebrate husbandry work in Australia, we are collecting and learning about new species of insects that have never been held in captivity before. This research is one of my favourite parts of the job.
