Ms Heather Maginn
Interpretation/Education Officer, Melbourne Aquarium
Course of study:
Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Biosciences (Honours) 2007
As an interpretation officer, I introduce visitors to the four worlds at the Melbourne Aquarium through presentations that focus on various topics, including habitats, animal life history, reproduction and conservation issues. I also provide education tours tailored for difference ages groups of primary school children. I have recently starting assisting the curatorial staff in the Penguin department and my jobs include shovelling snow for the display, display cleaning, food preparation for both the King and Gentoo Penguins, water quality testing and quarantine maintenance.
I enjoy working at the Melbourne Aquarium as it gives me the opportunity to work with a great group of like minded people. Every day I learn more about marine life of Victoria, and there is always someone willing to go scuba diving on days off to explore this unique marine environment.
