Project Officer and Volunteer Engagement Officer, Conservation Volunteers Australia

Course of study:
Bachelor of Conservation Biology and Ecology 2009

I completed a Bachelor of Conservation Biology and Ecology and now work for Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) in Hamilton as a Project Officer and Volunteer Engagement Officer (kind of a dual role). My role as Volunteer Engagement Officer involves recruiting volunteers both internationally and locally and promoting the work of CVA throughout my region through universities, TAFE and local clubs and schools. My role as Project Officer is to assist my Regional Manager run weekly volunteer projects to fantastic places including the nearby Grampians National Park, Wetland Reserves, the Eastern Barred Bandicoot Reserve and other parks and private land as well.

This involves liasing with project partners like Parks Vic. and local shires and other aspects such as organising accommodation for our volunteers on away projects and providing comfortable living in our volunteer house and exciting information on our native wildlife and local parks and reserves. What I particularly love about my role is introducing our international volunteers to our native wildlife and spectacular bushland and to renew a respect and passion for our special wild places amongst our local volunteers.
