Course of study:
Bachelor of Agricultural Science 2012

The ability to further my education to make a positive difference in the world was what most influenced my decision to study at university.

My course has allowed me to obtain unique work experiences that would have been difficult to gain otherwise and the course content has allowed me to gain a wide understanding in a variety of fields relevant to agriculture.

I’m currently undertaking work experience in plant-soil interactions, which has been very interesting and has greatly enhanced my understanding of the field. I’ll be undertaking another work experience position next year in plant genomics and breeding. I’m interested in further studies in these fields leading to a research career.

The teaching staff are very helpful and there is a great balance between lectures, practicals and excursions at La Trobe. The Bundoora campus has plenty of space with a few really nice spots to relax, like the gardens.

If you are looking at applying to study at uni you should attend as many open days as possible, be organised and never afraid to ask questions. Also research the potential jobs the university course will allow you to apply for, and decide if they are right for you.
