Meet our student
Mr Nicholas Tran
Course of study:
Master Nanotechnology/Bachelor Science (Honours) 2014
After finishing high school I enrolled in a course at another university, but I soon found that I wasn’t enjoying it as much as I thought I would. After assessing my options I left the course at the end of the first semester and took some time off.
During my break away from study I decided to apply for the Master Nanotechnology, Bachelor Science (honours) at La Trobe and now I look back and am glad I decided to take stock of what I was doing. The difference from my first uni experience to this time around is huge. Studying a course I really enjoy is making university so much more enjoyable – if only I could explain the basics of nanotechnology to my non-techy friends!
Nicholas’ tipsFor people looking at coming to uni, my best tip would be that it can take time to find exactly what you are most interested in, but don’t give up just because your expectations are not initially met. Even after you arrive at uni, it is no big deal to take some time to think about what course really suits you best. Another tip would be to find a balance between uni, work and social life, and try and have as much fun at uni as possible!
