Overview
Get into Genes is a free, interactive education program for secondary school students that highlights the application of biotechnology to crop improvement. The Year 10 program is linked with VELS and the Year 12 program with VCE Biology key knowledge and skills. Students will have hands-on experience with biotechnology tools such as PCR and gel electrophoresis. The program also offers students and teachers an insight into cutting edge genetics and molecular biology research as it applies in Australian agriculture. Specially tailored professional development programs are also being developed for pre-service and experienced teachers.
