Prospective Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate courses - application information
Pathways to courses:
The Faculty offers a range of courses, some of which are more general and give you significant choice of subjects at first year, whilst others are specialist programs. We have designed these speciailist programs for particular outcomes, and the intake into these is often limited. The generalist degrees are the Bachelor of Science, and the Bachelor of Biological Sciences, and both of these can be used as alternative pathways for entry into the specialist programs, for transfer at second year level. Students would need to meet identified performance criteria in their first year studies.
For example, many students would like to study a specialist degree, such as Medical Science, but do not achieve the ENTER score required for this course at year 12. Such students could complete the first year of the Bachelor of Biological Sciences, and apply to transfer into Medical Science at second year.
Non year 12 applicants can also use these pathways to gain prerequisite studies for the specialist programs.
Students considering taking these pathways are encouraged to discuss their options with Faculty staff. The pathways are indicated in our prospectus.
Guaranteed Entry Scheme:
La Trobe University conducts a guaranteed entry scheme on selected courses. Year 12 students who achieve the indicated ENTER score and above will be offered a Commonwealth Supported Place into the relevant course. These ENTER scores are listed in our prospectus and in the VTAC Guide. Contact us if you would like more information on this scheme.
How to apply :
All applications for our undergraduate courses for entry in the beginning of the year are taken through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre. Applications can be made online through VTAC. Mature-age applicants also apply through VTAC but should also see the additional Faculty information. Some courses have additional requirements and applicants should check the VTAC information carefully, or contact us for assistance.
