Information technology

Why study Information technology?

Learn the underlying theories and principles of IT, specialising in software development, computer networks and web development. Students will learn to critically analyse problems in various industry sectors and develop innovative solutions. Through the industry-based learning (IBL) program and major projects students can gain practical experience using IT applications and become professional in developing IT as an enabling technology. You can combine your studies with business, humanities, mathematics, public health and environmental science.

Industry enterprise practices

Second year Computer Science and Computer Engineering students have the opportunity to study current industrial best practices in software development using tools and platforms provided by Microsoft. Across three modules, students are introduced to a number of programming and development tools and techniques including C# and Sharepoint 2010. Upon successful completion of this subject (CS2IEP), students will have the required knowledge and skills to sit the Microsoft certification exam.
