Brief profile

Professor Parish's main interests are in cell and molecular biology. His laboratory is  studying the mechanisms underlying seed mucilage production and seed coat development.  They have identified anther-specific genes essential for pollen production and are studying the relevant regulatory pathways.  His knowledge of anther development has resulted in a novel technology for hybrid seed production.

Recently the Parish lab has commenced studying genes involved in protecting plants against cold and dehydration stress and the signalling pathways involved in the regulation of these genes.

Research interests include:

- Studying genes that regulate anther and seed coat development - Studying cold and drought control og gene expression - Hormone signal transduction pathways
