Brief profile
I did my PhD with Professor John Elvidge Surrey University UK on heterocyclic synthesis I also spend two years post-doctoral fellowship at Surrey University working with Professor John Elvidge and Professor John Jones on the development of tritium NMR and some of its applications. I did move back to Iraq (1976 -1990) and become involved in a range of different areas of research such as heterocyclic synthesis and the development of some NMR techniques. Since 2001 I joined Latrobe University. I am positioned in the School of Molecular Sciences, Department of Pharmacy working on the synthesis and the assay of new biologically active heterocyclic molecules please see below
- Synthesize a range of substituted 2-amino-8-substituted -1, 3 oxazine compounds using novel methods of organic synthesis. Test the synthesized compounds for antiplatelet and DNA-Dependent Protein Kinase inhibitory activity. Correlate activity with chemical substitution to find those compounds and structures that give the highest activity.
