La Trobe has a great community spirit.
Course of study:
Bachelor of Pharmacy
I have wanted to study pharmacy for as long as I can remember. The idea of being able to help others while having all the science and health knowledge was a massive calling card to me when deciding what I wanted to do at university. I felt La Trobe’s Bachelor of Pharmacy was the best choice for me as people from the pharmacy I worked in highly recommended the course!
I got a first round offer for La Trobe through the Schools Access La Trobe (SALT) program and I received a La Trobe Vice Chancellor’s Excellence & Access Scholarship (LVCEAS) at the start of 2013. It has helped me study without having to worry about working.
La Trobe has a great community spirit. From the friendly and motivating staff to the fact that you meet students from every year level, it’s a great place to be. The Bendigo Association of Pharmacy Students (BAPS) is a massive part of pharmacy life at La Trobe. It provides amazing events and support through all year levels of pharmacy.
In December 2013, I went on a study trip with the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering to India. We visited La Trobe’s partner universities, SRM University in Chennai and JSS University in Mysore and Ooty. It was an amazing experience to learn about student life in both universities. SRM was a massive campus, with nearly every degree under the sun, while JSS was smaller, and had a focus on health degrees in Mysore and pharmacy in Ooty. Everyone that we met in India was very friendly and very welcoming to all of us. India was a brilliant experience and I would highly recommend the experience of going to India or an Indian exchange to anyone who gets the chance. As long as you enjoy spicy curry!
I hope to work in a community pharmacy when I finish at La Trobe and one day, maybe, I’d like to own a community pharmacy.
