How much time does uni take?

Depending on what course you are studying you will have between 12 and 30 contact hours per week (students enrolled in science and engineering courses will have more contact hours per week while arts students will have less).

You'll also need to spend time undertaking readings, studying lecture material and preparing assignments. Therefore it expected that full-time study (regardless of the course you're studying) equates to approximately the same amount of weekly hours as a full-time job.

To complete an entire degree typically takes three to four years of full-time study. Students have the option of studying full-time or part-time, or changing between the two. It is also possible to defer your studies before and during your course.

Below are some sample timetables that show you how university class schedules differ to school schedules and how study, socialising and work can be organised around class time.
