Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management)

Steph knew she was passionate about tourism and events, but wanted to do something that give her broader career options. After doing some research, visiting another University’s Open Day, and getting both her first and second preferences, Steph decided that a Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management) at La Trobe (her second preference) was her best option. This was a brave decision, given that only two others from her high school would be joining her at La Trobe.

Steph’s decision was based on the fact that the La Trobe course offered a lot of ‘hands on’ experience in the field, would lead to events management, yet still provide her with the business skills and knowledge that would give her an advantage.

Steph loves studying at La Trobe, because it’s more relaxed than school, she loves the tourism component (particularly booking flights and tours), and the physical environment of the Melbourne (Bundoora) campus is like a small community – friendly and relaxed – despite having approximately 18,000 other students on campus!

Steph’s tips

Don’t freak out about your results. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get the results you want or you don’t get into the course you wanted straight away. There are other ways to get into a course you like. So do your research.
