George Abdelmalek
Bachelor of Dentistry
Throughout high-school George had his sights set on becoming a dentist. But with dentistry having a very high entry ATAR (over 99) he knew he had to have a backup plan. Knowing that he definitely wanted to pursue a hands-on career in the health sector, George decided to enrol in Physiotherapy at La Trobe’s Melbourne campus.
However, after a year of Physiotherapy George found himself still interested in Dentistry. By attaining strong marks in his Physiotherapy subjects, he was able to gain an internal transfer into La Trobe’s Dentistry course at its Bendigo campus.
George’s Top Tip
If you don’t have the marks, but are really interested in a certain course, explore your pathway options.
After not gaining a place in La Trobe’s Dentistry program I enrolled in another health related course and by doing well was able to transfer. Persistence is the key.
