Accredited Occupational Therapist (AccOT) Prize
This prize is awarded to an entry level student who has demonstrated excellent utilisation of professional learning opportunities throughout the course, who gains a breadth of knowledge and skills related to Occupational Therapy, who seeks professional learning opportunities additional to the basic requirements of the course and who demonstrates a willingness to contribute to the profession of occupational therapy. Nominations for this award will be selected by the highest weighted result in OCT4APS, for undergraduate students, and OCT5APP for entry level students. There will be a nomination from both undergraduate and entry level students.
Aidacare – Student of the Year Award
Awarded to the most outstanding final-year student, in the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (and associated double degrees), or the Master of Occupational Therapy Practice, who has achieved the highest weighted average.

Available for metropolitan students only.

Awarded annually by the Victorian Branch of the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors to the student in the Postgraduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies course who has demonstrated the most outstanding knowledge and skills in the field of rehabilitation counselling.
Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association Inc. (Victorian Section) Prize
Awarded to the most outstanding first-year Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Clinical Prosthetics and Orthotics student who achieves the highest weighted average for all first-year subjects. The prize consists of a $75 La Trobe University bookshop voucher and student membership to the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association until the completion of the student’s degree (including Honours if applicable).
Australian Podiatry Association (Vic.) Award for Excellence
Awarded to the most outstanding fourth-year Bachelor of Podiatry student for excellence in clinical studies. The award is a 12-month membership to the Australian Podiatry Association, and malpractice insurance cover of $2,000,000.

Awarded to a student in the Bachelor of Public Health at the Bendigo Campus with the best academic and public health practice performance in second-year and third year field experience.
Constance Read Memorial Prize
Awarded to the student who gains the highest percentage of marks in the physiotherapy skills components in the second-year of Physiotherapy. Donated by a number of physiotherapists in memory of Miss Constance Read, a member of the physiotherapy staff at the Royal Children's Hospital.
CRS Australia Award for Excellence in Vocational Rehabilitation
Awarded to the most outstanding final-year student in the Postgraduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies achieving outstanding academic results and fieldwork reports in units relevant to vocational rehabilitation.

The Dean's Honour Lists is an annual recognition of outstanding academic achievement by undergraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Awarded to a pre-registration Bachelor of Nursing student who, through a book review of between 750 and 1000 words, can demonstrate critical thinking skills and provides student feedback and user critiquing.

Gerontology Special Group Prize
Awarded to the final-year student who achieves the highest mark in the unit PTY4PRG Physiotherapy in Rehabilitation and Gerontology. Donated by the Gerontology Special Group of the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. The prize is a one-year membership to Gerontology Special Interest Group and a certificate.

Gwen Saunders Memorial Scholarship
This award is given to a first year Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of Podiatric Practice student. Preference will be given to a student from a rural area within Australia and who may have experienced financial hardship. Academic merit is not a criterion for the award. The value of the award is $500 and will be paid by cheque early in the academic year. This scholarship does not specify how the money is to be used therefore it is at the discretion of the student.

Established from a donation by Dr Bill and Mrs Carol Holsworth, this Bursary is administered by the Bendigo Tertiary Education Anniversary Foundation and is awarded to support a regional student who is continuing studies in the third year of the Bachelor of Health Science (Dentistry)/Master of Dentistry course.
Holsworth Paramedicine Bursary
This Bursary is adminstered by the Bendigo Tertiary Education Anniversary Foundation and established from a donation by Dr Bill & Mrs Carol Holsworth of Bendigo. The Bursary is awarded to support a student from regional Australia, who is continuing studies in the third year of the Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Paramedic Practice on the Bendigo Campus of La Trobe University.

Joyce Wickham Medal
Awarded to a postgraduate student when there is a candidate of sufficient merit. Any or all of the following: 1. instituted documented changes in practice in their work context; 2. published paper(s) in a journal; 3. presented paper(s) poster(s) at conferences or informal paper(s) at workplace; 4. produced a pamphlet or document or protocol for staff or patient education; 5. undertaken research or evidence of planning research; 6. involved in further study.
Judith Lumley Scholarship
Judith Lumley was the founding director of Mother & Child Health Research, and a world renowned researcher in maternal health. To recognise the contribution that Judith made to the Faculty and the community more broadly, the Faculty has established the Judith Lumley Scholarship. The Judith Lumley scholarship is an esteem award for a high achieving HDR scholarship holder in Mother and Child Health Research. There will only be one holder of the Judith Lumley Scholarship at any time.
Julie MacDonald Memorial Award for Excellence
Awarded to a completing student of the postgraduate critical care nursing, emergency nursing, or cardiac nursing course offered at Bendigo and whose clinical placement has been conducted through Bendigo Health Care Group. The award shall be made to the student who displays outstanding achievement in both clinical and theory assessments, as well as a commitment to the professional development of colleagues.
Kay Spencer Memorial Award
Awarded to the student who gains the highest mark in an evidence-based practice, critically appraised topic, in neurology. The prize is in memory of Kay Spencer, a valued member of the School of Physiotherapy staff. It is provided by the Spencer family, members of staff and the Physiotherapy Students’ Association.

Lamisil Best Final Year Podiatry Award
In 2011 this award will go to the Bachelor of Podiatry student who achieves the highest aggregate score for subjects in their fourth year. From 2012, this award will go the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Podiatric Practice student who achieves the highest aggregate score for subjects in their fourth year.
Language Learning Disability Special Interest Group Award
Awarded to the final-year student in Speech Pathology who has completed a research project of high standard and/or made a significant contribution to the area of language learning disabilities.
Margaret and Alan Hamer Research Prize
Heads of Schools may nominate undergraduate students for this prize based on the standard of a research project completed while on a course. A group of students that jointly completes a research project may also be nominated. Nominations close on 31 December.
Mental Illness Fellowship Victoria – Award for Excellence

OT Australia Victoria Inc. New Graduand Award for Clinical Excellence
This prize is awarded annually to an undergraduate occupational therapy student who has achieved excellence at the highest level during their fourth year clinical placement. These students are nominated by their clinical supervisor.
Otto Bock Clinical Excellence Award
Awarded to the most outstanding third year student in Prosthetics and Orthotics who achieves the highest grade average across all second and third year clinical subjects. The prize consists of travel to, and accommodation at the Otto Black Academy in Duderstadt, Germany to undertake a two week workshop in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics including two days at the Otto Bock Science Center for Medical Technology in Berlin.

Royal Women's Hospital Midwifery Student Research Award
Awarded to a midwifery student, or recent graduate, to support presentation of research findings at an international or national conference.
School of Human Communication Sciences Honours Publication Award
Awarded to one honours year student who has a paper accepted for a peer-reviewed publication within 18 months of completing the honours program.
School of Human Communication Sciences – Clinical Achievement Award
Awarded in recognition of excellence in clinical skills. Nominations will be accepted from internal and external clinical educators. The Clinical Achievement Award will be presented to one student from each of the second, third and fourth year levels of the undergraduate Speech Pathology and the final year of the Master of Speech Pathology course.
Soroptimists International (Bendigo) Midwifery Bursary
This bursary is awarded to support students enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery Science at the Bendigo campus. Two bursaries will be made available annually. Recipients will be selected on the basis of the extent of hardship related to rural or regional issues and the impact of spending an extended time away from home. The value of the award will be determined annually. More information and the application form can be obtained from Student Administration at the Bendigo campus. Closing date is 31 March.

The Alfred Group - Janet Sloane Stroke Rehabilitation Grant
Awarded to a student in the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy who submits a suitable, high quality proposal to undertake research in the area of stroke rehabilitation in their final year.
The Annie North Women’s Domestic Violence Service Award
Awarded to the student who achieves the highest grade in a social work subject, which deals with domestic violence.
The Bernard Rechter Graduate Research Prize for Honours
Awarded to the Honours student completing the most outstanding Honours thesis in the Faculty of Health Sciences each year. This award is in recognition of the contributions made by Professor Bernard Rechter in his role as the Director of the Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences, the antecedent of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The Caroline Pippett Memorial Prize
Awarded to the final-year metropolitan undergraduate nursing student who clearly demonstrates a loving and caring attitude towards patients.
The Familycare Scholarship
Awarded to the social work student who demonstrates sound academic achievement and a clear commitment to rural social work.

Awarded to a student of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background who has demonstrated a strong academic achievement, commitment to their course of study and who provides positive role-modelling for other students.
The Hugh Batten Graduate Research Prize for Masters by Coursework
Awarded to the Masters by Coursework student who completes the most outstanding Masters by Coursework minor thesis in the Faculty of Health Sciences each year. This award is in recognition of the contributions made by Professor Hugh Batten in his role as Dean of the Lincoln School of Health Sciences.

Awarded to a postgraduate student when there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
The Leonie Collins Memorial Prize
Awarded to the best fourth-year student presentation at the Annual La Trobe University Orthoptic Student Conference. The prize is an engraved plaque.
The Stephen Duckett Graduate Research Prize for Higher Degree by Research
Awarded to the Doctor of Philosophy or Professional Doctorate by Research candidate who completes the most outstanding Higher Degree by Research thesis in the Faculty of Health Sciences each year. This award is in recognition of the contributions made by Professor Stephen Duckett in his role as the inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The Villa Maria Society Aged Care Prize
Awarded to a student enrolled in an undergraduate nursing courses at the Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus who has shown particular skills and interest in the area of aged care.

Victorian Voice Interest Group Speech Pathology Student Award
Awarded to the final-year student in Speech Pathology who completes the best honours research project or pass degree project related to voice science and/or voice disorders.
VPGH Postgraduate Prize in Gerontology
Awarded to a postgraduate research student studying and researching in the field of gerontology. Open only to domestic postgraduate students studying and researching into the area of gerontology. This is a single award donation, for 2011, but may be extended.
Westate Social Work Awards

Winston S Rickards Prize Medal
Awarded annually (provided that there is a candidate of sufficient merit) for the best paper submitted on therapeutic principles and their application in the field of communication disorders. The prize is a medallion.

Awarded to a final year female student of an undergraduate nursing course who displays outstanding academic achievement over the duration of their course.
Zoran Georgievski Memorial Research Scholarship 2012
The Scholarship is called the Zoran Georgievski Memorial Research Scholarship. The recipient of the Scholarship must be enrolled at La Trobe University for an Award of Masters or PhD by research and be researching in a field directly related to orthoptics or an area of public health of interest to the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH).
