Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships (ICS)

Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships assist full-time indigenous Australian students from rural and regional and low income backgrounds with financial support associated with their study in an undergraduate degree program for up to four years. There are three types of Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships (ICS):

Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (I-CECS)
(open to both Commencing and Continuing Indigenous Students)
valued at $2207 per year (2009 rate) indexed.

Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship (I-CAS)
(open to both Commencing and Continuing Indigenous Students)
valued at $4415 per year (2009 rate) indexed.

Indigenous Access Scholarship (IAS) - COMMENCING STUDENTS ONLY
a once off payment of $4166 (2009 rate) to Indigenous students who relocate to study at university.

These scholarships will be exempt for the purposes of the Social Security Act and thus income from these scholarships will not be taken into account when applying the Personal Income Test for Youth Allowance, Austudy, Abstudy, or the primary payment of students receiving a Pensioner Education Supplement.

2010 Scholarship Applications through VTAC are NOW CLOSED
APPLICATIONS for 2010 Commonwealth Indigenous and La Trobe University Equity scholarships are NOW CLOSED. No late applications will be accepted.
