Accredited Occupational Therapist (AccOT) Prize
This prize is awarded to an entry level student who has demonstrated excellent utilisation of professional learning opportunities throughout the course, who gains a breadth of knowledge and skills related to Occupational Therapy, who seeks professional learning opportunities additional to the basic requirements of the course and who demonstrates a willingness to contribute to the profession of occupational therapy. Nominations for this award will be selected by the highest weighted result in OCT4APS, for undergraduate students, and OCT5APP for entry level students. There will be a nomination from both undergraduate and entry level students.
Aidacare – Student of the Year Award
Awarded to the most outstanding final-year student, in the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (and associated double degrees), or the Master of Occupational Therapy Practice, who has achieved the highest weighted average.

The Victorian Women’s Trust (VWT) and the Gender, Sexuality and Diversity Studies (GSDS) Program, La Trobe University have created a partnership to enable an Essay Prize, awarded annually to an undergraduate student, majoring in GSDS, for an outstanding essay.
Amy Huxtable Memorial History Prize
Awarded to a Bendigo Arts student for an outstanding historically-oriented research project undertaken by a final-year student in the Bachelor of Arts.
Andrea Hore Business Scholarship
Ms Andrea Hore, a part-time mature age student, graduated from the School of Business, Albury Wodonga campus, with the Bachelor of Business (Enterprise Development) in March 1996. Andrea was tragically killed in the Bali Bombings of October 2002. In Andrea's memory, sufficient funds have been generated to establish a La Trobe University scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis and will benefit students studying within the Regional School of Business at the Albury Wodonga campus.
Andrew Dean Fildes Foundation Award for Language Learning Disabilities
Awarded to the speech pathology student who completes the best research paper related to language learning disabilities.

Australian Literacy Educators’ Association Award
Awarded for academic excellence in literacy studies to a student at the Bendigo Campus graduating with a primary education degree. The award is one year’s subscription to ALEA.
Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association Inc. (Victorian Section) Prize
Awarded to the most outstanding first-year Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Clinical Prosthetics and Orthotics student who achieves the highest weighted average for all first-year subjects. The prize consists of a $75 La Trobe University bookshop voucher and student membership to the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association until the completion of the student’s degree (including Honours if applicable).
Australian Podiatry Association (Vic.) Award for Excellence
Awarded to the most outstanding fourth-year Bachelor of Podiatry student for excellence in clinical studies. The award is a 12-month membership to the Australian Podiatry Association, and malpractice insurance cover of $2,000,000.
Bendigo Campus Arts Staff Award
This award to made each year to a student who has successfully completed the third year of the Bachelor of Arts course at the Bendigo or Shepparton Campus. It is based on academic merit.

Constance Read Memorial Prize
Awarded to the student who gains the highest percentage of marks in the physiotherapy skills components in the second-year of Physiotherapy. Donated by a number of physiotherapists in memory of Miss Constance Read, a member of the physiotherapy staff at the Royal Children's Hospital.

Dante Alighieri Society President’s Prize
Awarded to the first-year student with the highest mark in either ITA1ADB (Advanced Italian 1B) or ITA1BEB (Beginners Italian 1B). The winner must be continuing Italian Studies at a higher year level.
David Ashton Honours Prize
This scholarship will be awarded to the top-ranked student entering Honours in ecology with the Department of Botany.
David Hume First-Year Philosophy Prize
Awarded each year to the student who is placed first among all students enrolled in a first-year philosophy subject, provided the work is of A-level standard. The prize will be shared in the case of A-level students placed equal first.
David Hume Honours Year Philosophy Prize
Awarded each year to the student placed first (or shared between students placed equal first) among eligible students completing their fourth year (honours) in philosophy, provided the student (or students) is (are) awarded a first-class honours for that year. Eligible students are those who take no more than one course component (out of three) from outside those offered as fourth-year philosophy subjects.
David Johanson Prize
Established in memory of David Johanson who taught history from 1968 to 1985. It is usually awarded for the best third-year essay in any history subject, but occasionally it is awarded to another year level.

Dean’s Medal
A Dean's Medal for Academic Excellence will be awarded annually to the highest achieving Undergraduate and Postgraduate student studying in their final year before graduating at each of the Faculty campuses. The Dean's Medal for Academic Excellence is a certificate and a medallion in a presentation box.

Dentsply Bachelor of Health Sciences (Dentistry)/Master of Dentistry
Awarded annually to the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Dentistry)/Master of Dentistry student who achieves excellence in the field of periodontics and demonstrates leadership and professionalism during the final year of the course. Derek Stewart Award
This prize honours the memory of Derek Stewart and is donated by the Mt Eliza Centre. Awarded to a third-year occupational therapy student who has demonstrated excellence in the area of geriatric rehabilitation.
Derick Marsh Shakespeare Prize
Awarded annually for the best essay written by an undergraduate student in English on a topic concerned with an aspect of Shakespeare’s work.
Diana Craig Memorial Prize
This prize commemorates the contribution of Diana Craig to orthoptics. It is awarded by the Orthoptic Association of Australia (Victorian Branch) for the most outstanding research thesis undertaken in the orthoptics Honours program.
DM Myers University Medal
The DM Myers University Medal is awarded annually to the outstanding undergraduate student graduating in each faculty (usually an honours graduate). The medallion was donated by the first Vice-Chancellor of La Trobe University, Dr David Myers, CMG. The medallion was designed by Andor Meszaros, a medallionist and sculptor of international repute, who came to Australia from Hungary in 1939 and whose major works include the King George V Memorial Statue (King George V Hospital, Sydney) in marble, an altarpiece in the Canterbury Cathedral and the 1956 Olympic Medallion.
EH Armstrong Prize for Services to Lower-Limb Amputees Prize
Awarded to either a Prosthetics and Orthotics postgraduate student or undergraduate student in recognition of contributions to the care and management of lower-limb amputees.
Eliza McAuley Memorial Prize
Awarded to the final-year Physiotherapy student who is most outstanding at the clinical practice units. Donated by a member of the Association in the memory of Miss Eliza McAuley, whose foresight gave a sound basis on which the course has been built.
Elsevier Australia Book Prize (Year 2)
Awarded to the second-year physiotherapy student who shows the most outstanding ability in the field of anatomy.
Elsevier Excellence in the Care of Older People Prize
Awarded to the first-year nursing student in the Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing Science who has excelled in care of older people.
Elsevier Gerontic Nursing Clinical Practice Prize
Awarded to the final-year nursing student in the Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing Science who has demonstrated excellence in gerontic nursing clinical practice.
Elsevier Undergraduate Academic Achievement Award
Awarded to a pre-registration Bachelor of Nursing student who, through a book review of between 750 and 1000 words, can demonstrate critical thinking skills and provides student feedback and user critiquing.

Awarded to a nursing student on the basis of an outstanding book review.
Environmental Management and Ecology Second Year Prize
This prize is awarded for outstanding academic acheivement in the second year of the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Ecology.
EQUUS Podiatric Award
Awarded to the Podiatry (Honours) student who achieves the highest overall score for an Honours thesis.
Esler and Associates Prize
The Esler and Associates Prize is awarded to the most outstanding third-year student in two subjects that have a soil and water component within the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Ecology.
First Year Anthropology Prize
Awarded to the student with the highest mark across the two subjects (ANT1CAG and ANT1FET) in one year.
First-Year History Prize
Normally awarded to the student with the best result(s) in first-year history (excluding American History), provided that the achievement is meritorious.
First-Year Sociology Prize
Awarded annually to the student with the highest final mark in a first-year sociology subject.
Flo Robinson Special Education Memorial Scholarship
The Scholarship is awarded to support a student from regional Victoria, who is commencing postgraduate studies in a field of special education or is enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate course majoring in special education on the Bendigo campus of La Trobe University.
Geoffrey John Blunden Prize in Philosophy
Awarded annually for the best essay by an undergraduate student on a topic concerned with the welfare of non-human animals.
George Colson Award
Awarded annually to a student who has excelled in the language education component of any teacher education course at the Bendigo Campus.
Gerontology Special Group Prize
Awarded to the final-year student who achieves the highest mark in the unit PTY4PRG Physiotherapy in Rehabilitation and Gerontology. Donated by the Gerontology Special Group of the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. The prize is a one-year membership to Gerontology Special Interest Group and a certificate.
GHD/ La Trobe University Scholarship
The GHD/La Trobe University Civil Engineering Scholarship Program has been established to provide support for the completion of a tertiary qualification of future professional civil engineering staff. It is available to students undertaking the Bachelor of Civil Engineering course, or one of the Engineering double degree courses, at the Bendigo campus of La Trobe University.

Awarded to a student with distinguished achievement in the area of marketing.
Gwen Saunders Memorial Scholarship
This award is given to a first year Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of Podiatric Practice student. Preference will be given to a student from a rural area within Australia and who may have experienced financial hardship. Academic merit is not a criterion for the award. The value of the award is $500 and will be paid by cheque early in the academic year. This scholarship does not specify how the money is to be used therefore it is at the discretion of the student.
Hamilton-Smith Rotary Scholarship for Environmental Studies
The Hamilton-Smith Rotary Scholarship is awarded to a full time student who is studying their second year of the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Ecology.
Harvey Naghten Memorial Award
The Harvey Naghten Memorial Award is offered annually (subject to availability of funds) to a student who has completed at least the first year of an undergraduate course, has been able to remain at University through his or her own efforts despite difficulties and has assisted others within or outside the University during their period of study at la Trobe.

Awarded annually to the student in third year with best overall result for law and politics subjects combined, and who has completed one of the politics honours prerequisite subjects.
Holsworth Dentistry Bursary
Established from a donation by Dr Bill and Mrs Carol Holsworth, this Bursary is administered by the Bendigo Tertiary Education Anniversary Foundation and is awarded to support a regional student who is continuing studies in the third year of the Bachelor of Health Science (Dentistry)/Master of Dentistry course.
Holsworth Oral Health Bursary
Established from a donation by Dr Bill and Mrs Carol Holsworth, this Bursary is administered by the Bendigo Tertiary Education Anniversary Foundation and is awarded to support a regional student enrolled in their final semester of the Bachelor of Oral Health Science.
Holsworth Paramedicine Bursary
This Bursary is adminstered by the Bendigo Tertiary Education Anniversary Foundation and established from a donation by Dr Bill & Mrs Carol Holsworth of Bendigo. The Bursary is awarded to support a student from regional Australia, who is continuing studies in the third year of the Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Paramedic Practice on the Bendigo Campus of La Trobe University.

This is awarded annually to the student with the most distinguished record in a first-year politics subject.
Inglewood & Districts Health Service Prize for Social Work
Awarded to the social work student whose home address is in a rural or regional town/city with a population of less than 25,000 and who achieves the highest grade in a specified subject.
International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) Prize
Awarded to the most outstanding third year student as judged by the results of third year prosthetics and orthotics subjects.
Janet Sloane Award
This award acknowledges the contribution Janet Sloane made to the occupational therapy profession. Awarded to the most outstanding occupational therapy student(s) for excellence in a final year research project relevant to activities of daily living, community health or ergonomics.
Jean Martin Prize in Sociology
Awarded annually to the student submitting the best fourth-year honours thesis based on an empirical study of Australian society, where there is a thesis of sufficient merit.
John Hill Albury-Wodonga Campus Chemistry Prize
The John Hill Albury-Wodonga Chemistry Prize is awarded for the best overall performance in first-year chemistry.
John Martin Memorial Award
Awarded annually to a student in Bachelor of Arts (Outdoor Education) who is entering the second year of study. It is an award that recognises and encourages the fullest involvement in study and enjoyment of life involving the outdoors and other relevant activities.
Jose Maria Sangiau Prize
Awarded to contribute towards travel to a Spanish speaking country based on a short essay in Spanish outlining the perceived value of studying abroad in a recognised course of study on exchange or in-country study.
Julie MacDonald Memorial Award for Excellence
Awarded to a completing student of the postgraduate critical care nursing, emergency nursing, or cardiac nursing course offered at Bendigo and whose clinical placement has been conducted through Bendigo Health Care Group. The award shall be made to the student who displays outstanding achievement in both clinical and theory assessments, as well as a commitment to the professional development of colleagues.
K.D. Cole Prize in Physics - Second Year
Awarded to the most outstanding student in second year physics.
Kay Spencer Memorial Award
Awarded to the student who gains the highest mark in an evidence-based practice, critically appraised topic, in neurology. The prize is in memory of Kay Spencer, a valued member of the School of Physiotherapy staff. It is provided by the Spencer family, members of staff and the Physiotherapy Students’ Association.
Kerry Faul Memorial Prize – Wodonga West Rotary Club
Awarded for academic distinction and demonstrated commitment to high quality nursing.
KG Scarrott Award
Awarded annually to a student completing the degree of Bachelor of Education at the Bendigo Campus who has attained consistent excellence in the practicum component of the course, coupled with an outstanding academic record.
Kylie Morrow Memorial Award
Awarded annually to most outstanding full-time Bachelor of Arts student at the Bendigo Campus who has successfully completed all subjects in the first year of the course and is proceeding into the second year of the course.

The La Trobe Alumni Prize recognises the contribution and achievements of final year students studying for their pass degree, or who are in the penultimate year of their honours degree.

Lamisil Best Final Year Podiatry Award
In 2011 this award will go to the Bachelor of Podiatry student who achieves the highest aggregate score for subjects in their fourth year. From 2012, this award will go the Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Podiatric Practice student who achieves the highest aggregate score for subjects in their fourth year.
Language Learning Disability Special Interest Group Award
Awarded to the final-year student in Speech Pathology who has completed a research project of high standard and/or made a significant contribution to the area of language learning disabilities.
Laurie Leeson Award
Awarded annually to a student who has excelled in environmental education in any course offered by the School of Outdoor Education and Environment.
Lia Teresa Memorial Prize
Awarded to the most outstanding second-year student in the Bachelor of Visual Arts course at the Bendigo campus.
Liliane Gay – Alliance Française Prize
Donated by Alliance Française of Victoria, the prize is awarded to the student who has obtained a pass at A level in one of the subjects taught in the French Program. The prize is awarded to the student who, in the opinion of the staff of the French Program, has done the most meritorious work in French studies. The prize may be shared equally between two or more students. Native speakers of French are not eligible for the prize.
Lilit Thwaites Prize
Awarded to the best second year beginner Spanish student over two consecutive semesters. The Lilit Twaites Prize is supported by John Ford and Peter Gerrand. John is a proud Spanish speaker and has a deep interest in the historical and cultural aspects of the country, the Iberian Peninsula and its region. Peter Gerrand is an Honorary Associate in the Spanish Program at La Trobe University.
Lisa Malone Scholarship
This scholarship pays tribute to the work of Lisa Malone, former resident of Wodonga and student in social work at La Trobe University. The scholarship provides $2,000 for a year of study in any course at Albury-Wodonga that contributes to community development and welfare. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of commitment to social development either in Australia or overseas.
Lorraine Donnan Prize
Awarded annually to the student with the highest mark in a social theory subject at second-year level.
Margaret and Alan Hamer Research Prize
Heads of Schools may nominate undergraduate students for this prize based on the standard of a research project completed while on a course. A group of students that jointly completes a research project may also be nominated. Nominations close on 31 December.
Mason Family Trust Arts Bursary
This bursary was established from a donation by the Mason Family Trust of which Sandhurst Trustees Limited is the trustee. The bursary is awarded to assist students enrolled at the Bendigo campus in Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences or Education who are pursuing studies in Arts and Communications, Visual Arts and Design, Art Education, Music Education or Performing Arts Education, and who incur substantive costs for equipment and have demonstrated academic and/or practical merit.

Mason Family Trust Capital Support Bursary
This busary was established from a donation by the Mason Family Trust of which Sandhurst Trustees Limited is the trustee. The Capital Support Busary is awarded to assist full time undergraduate students enrolled at the Bendigo campus in any Faculty who incur significant additional costs having to purchase equipment or other materials (e.g. musical instruments, art equipment) as part of their academic program.
Mason Family Trust Practicum Support Bursary
This bursary is administered by La Trobe University and was established from a donation by the Mason Family Trust. The bursary is establised to assist full time undergraduate students in second and subsequent years enrolled at Bendigo Campus who are undertaking an academic program which incurs significant additional costs (accommodation, travel and other related expenses) associated with industry based learning/practicum.

Meridian Prize
Awarded annually by Meridian: The La Trobe University English Review and the English Program for the best fourth-year long essay submitted by a completing honours student in English.

Miguel Valiente Prize
The Miguel Valiente Prise is awarded to the best third year student essay or initiative in promoting Spanish culture. Miguel Valiente was a principal tutor in Spanish at La Trobe from 1973-1978 and he is remembered warmly for creating a Student Spanish Theatre Group – El Tragaluz. Miguel was also a guest commentator on Spanish radio and actor with the Spanish National Radio Drama Company and a regular contributor to Australia’s SBS radio. The Miguel Valiente Prize is generously funded by Spanish Program Honorary Associate, Peter Gerrand.

Awarded annually to a student at the Bendigo Campus who has excelled in some aspect of the second year of the School’s pre-service teaching degree.
Mildura and District Primary Principals' Association (MDPPA) Scholarship
Awarded to the most outstanding first year student in both studies and practicum, after completion of their first year in the Bachelor of Education course at the Mildura Campus.
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Prize
Awarded to the student with the highest overall mark in PTY3MSP Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy – Theory and Practice.
National Centre for Classification in Health Prize for Clinical Coding
Awarded by the National Centre for Classification in Health to the Bachelor of Health Information Management student with the highest mark in the two final-year clinical coding units.
National Gallery of Victoria Trustees Award
Awarded annually to two students in visual arts courses who have successfully completed the first year of their course. The award is based on highest artistic/academic merit.
National Trust (Bendigo Branch) Award
The Central Victorian Branch of the National Trust of Australia presents a prize annually for a research thesis of outstanding quality that contributes to an understanding of Victoria’s heritage, undertaken by a student successfully completing a bachelor of Arts Honours or a graduate Diploma in Arts (History) at the Bendigo Campus.
Neurology National Group Prize
Awarded to the final-year Physiotherapy student who achieves the highest combined clinical and theory marks in neurology.
Norske Skog Prize
The Norske Skog Prize is awarded to the best first-year student in the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Ecology.
North East Catchment Management Authority Prize
The North East Catchment Management Authority Prize is awarded to the student with the best overall academic performance in the third year of the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Ecology.
Northern District School of Nursing Graduates’ Association Award
Awarded to final year students of an undergraduate nursing program who successfully completed all units in the first and second years of the course and who has displayed outstanding academic achievement in the final year of the course

OT Australia Victoria Inc. New Graduand Award for Clinical Excellence
This prize is awarded annually to an undergraduate occupational therapy student who has achieved excellence at the highest level during their fourth year clinical placement. These students are nominated by their clinical supervisor.
Otto Bock Clinical Excellence Award
Awarded to the most outstanding third year student in Prosthetics and Orthotics who achieves the highest grade average across all second and third year clinical subjects. The prize consists of travel to, and accommodation at the Otto Black Academy in Duderstadt, Germany to undertake a two week workshop in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics including two days at the Otto Bock Science Center for Medical Technology in Berlin.
Paediatric Special Group Prize
Awarded to the final-year physiotherapy student who achieves the highest aggregate marks in the second-year and fourth-year paediatric physiotherapy units.
Panalpina World Transport Consul – General of Switzerland Prize
Awarded to the first-year student who achieves excellent or high distinction in two of the Swiss languages (French and Italian).
Parsons Brinckerhoff Prize
Awarded to the outstanding student graduating from the Bachelor of Urban, Rural and Environmental Planning Course, based on the student’s academic work over the four years if the course.
Patricia Cosh Award
Awarded to a student in Physiotherapy who has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills.
Pauline Toner Award
For a student who has: made significant contributions in conservation, social issues or education; in 3rd year, Honours or doing a postgraduate course. Valued at up to $1000.
Penfold Public Health Research Prize
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student who has successfully completed the Bachelor of Public Health at the Bendigo Campus, achieving the highest average score across three specific public health subjects.
Peter Cook Prize in Australian History
Established to commemorate the outstanding teaching of the late Dr Peter Cook, the prize is awarded annually for the best first-class honours thesis in Australian history. If there is no such thesis, the prize will be awarded for the best first-class honours thesis in the History Program.
Physiotherapy Research Foundation Research Prize
Awarded to the final-year physiotherapy student who achieves the highest aggregate mark in the unit PTY4HON

R. W. (Wally) Thompson Prize
Awarded annually to the student enrolled in any introductory/beginners language subject within the Spanish Program, who achieves the highest average mark over the two semesters of the introductory year.
Rene Descartes Prize
Awarded each year to the student enrolled in second-year philosophy who has completed at least two subjects in the same year at an A-level standard and who has the best results.
Richard and Claire Guy Regional Planning Bursary
Awarded to a fulltime student enrolled in the second year of the Bachelor of Urban, Rural and Environmental Planning course. Applicants must have a permanent postcode in regional Victoria. They must have completed the first year of the course, preferably obtaining an average grade across all first year subjects of at least 70% and be able to demonstrate how the bursary will be used to support their ongoing academic progress and that their individual circumstances warrant financial support.

Awarded annually in honour of Dr Richard Zann to the top performing student in the area of animal behaviour.

Royal College of Nursing, Australia High Achiever Award
Awarded to acknowledge the efforts of a student who has achieved to the best of their ability. The prize is one year's membership to the Royal College of Nursing Australia.
Royal Historical Society of Victoria Prize
This provides a certificate and a three-year subscription to the Royal Historical Society of Victoria to the third-year student with the highest mark in Australian history.
Royal Women's Hospital Midwifery Student Research Award
Awarded to a midwifery student, or recent graduate, to support presentation of research findings at an international or national conference.
School of Human Communication Sciences – Clinical Achievement Award
Awarded in recognition of excellence in clinical skills. Nominations will be accepted from internal and external clinical educators. The Clinical Achievement Award will be presented to one student from each of the second, third and fourth year levels of the undergraduate Speech Pathology and the final year of the Master of Speech Pathology course.

SJE Consulting / La Trobe University Civil Engineering Scholarship Program has been established to provide support for the completion of a tertiary qualification of future professional staff. The Annie North Women’s Domestic Violence Service Award
Awarded to the student who achieves the highest grade in a social work subject, which deals with domestic violence.
The Australian Literature Prize
Awarded to the student who has written the best essay or long essay on Australian Literature.
The B Manjee Memorial Scholarship
The B Manjee Memorial Scholarship has been established by Mr Kishor Manjee, in memory of his father to support a student experiencing financial hardship who might otherwise not be able to continue on with their studies. The Scholarship is open to domestic second year undergraduate students and will cover the remaining period of their undergraduate program.
The Bernard Rechter Graduate Research Prize for Honours
Awarded to the Honours student completing the most outstanding Honours thesis in the Faculty of Health Sciences each year. This award is in recognition of the contributions made by Professor Bernard Rechter in his role as the Director of the Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences, the antecedent of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
