Welcome to the La Trobe University scholarships information site. The University offers a wide range of scholarships to commencing and continuing students across all fields of study, for undergraduate, postgraduate and international students.

Eligibility criteria for university wide, faculty and campus scholarships vary, as do the closing dates. Students are encouraged to check scholarships offered by their campus or faculty and to note the relevant application requirements, contact details and closing dates.

APPLICATIONS for 2010 Commonwealth Indigenous and La Trobe University Equity scholarships are NOW CLOSED. No late applications will be accepted.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CURRENT COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP RECIPENTS:
Existing recipients of CECS, CAS, NPS and NAS, awarded by La Trobe University prior to 2010, will continue to retain their scholarship and have their scholarship payments paid directly by La Trobe University until such time as their scholarship entitlement is consumed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP CHANGES FROM 2010

Changes to Youth Allowance
Legislation to introduce the Government's proposed changes to Youth Allowance has not been approved by the Parliament.  This means current rules for Youth Allowance, Austudy and ABSTUDY continue to apply.  The Government has indicated that it intends to bring its legislation back to the Parliament early in 2010.

Students who may be considering taking a gap year before going to university should be aware that the current arrangements would change if the Government's legislation is approved.  Information on the progress of the proposed changes is available at: www.deewr.gov.au/YouthAllowance

The proposed new Student Start-up Scholarship and the proposed new Relocation Scholarship
Legislation to introduce these new scholarships has not been approved by the Parliament. The Government has indicated that it intends to bring its legislation back to the Parliament early in 2010. Following the passage of legislation, these scholarships will be administered by Centrelink.

Students can monitor progress on the proposed changes to student income support by visiting www.deewr.gov.au/YouthAllowance. For information about current entitlements, students can contact Centrelink by phone on 13 24 90 or visit Centrelink’s website at www.centrelink.gov.au.
