Subtropics greater than 900 mm
Tropics greater than 1000 mm

Is the soil other than a red clay-loam? Yes No

Does the soil have adequate P reserves? Yes No

Colwell test greater than 20-25 ppm (lower for sands)
Olsen test greater than 12-15 ppm (lower for sands)
Bray 1 test greater than 10-12 ppm (lower for sands)
