Justice Scholarships for Tertiary Students from Refugee Backgrounds

The Victorian Government’s Department of Justice have outlined strategies as part of the new Cultural Diversity Plan 2009-11. These strategies aim to break down the barriers that culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities experience when accessing justice. The plan will improve access by increasing CALD community members' understanding of the legal system. The Scholarship program is a key strategy of the new Cultural Diversity Plan and the Department of Justice is offering the following scholarships, for the 2009-2010 academic years, to students from refugee communities undertaking Justice related tertiary study:

  • one major scholarship ($10,000 pa for 2 years)
  • three minor scholarships ($5,000 pa for 2 years).

Applications for the Scholarships must be made on the official Application form.
For further information please visit the Department of Justice website http://www.justice.vic.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/DOJ+Internet/Home/About+Us/Our+Values/Diversity/Justice+Scholarships+for+Tertiary+Students+from+Refugee+Communities+-+pdf or contact James Morrissey, 9094 2667 or email scholarships@justice.vic.gov.au.
