Three Minute Thesis (3MT)

3MT 2013The Trans-Tasman (Australia and New Zealand) Three Minute Thesis competition (3MT) is an academic competition that challenges research scholars to explain their research project in just three minutes.

The La Trobe University Final of the Inaugural 3 Minute Thesis competition was conducted in the Council Chamber at the John Scott Meeting House on 13 September, 2012.

The 2013 final will be held on Thursday 19th September and we encourage all PhD scholars to enter.

The La Trobe University winner will travel to NSW with their supervisor to compete in the 2013 Trans-Tasman final which will be held at the University of Western Sydney.  They will also win a $5000 travel grant.

HDR scholars competed within their faculties and the winners progressed to the La Trobe University Faculty Representative Finals. 

Winner 3MT Faculty RepresentativesThe winner of the university Faculty Representative Final was David Rayner who received a $5000 research travel grant presented by Professor Andrew Brennan (PVC Graduate Research).  The winner travelled with his supervisor and represented La Trobe University at the Trans-Tasman final in Brisbane on 11 October, 2012.

 

  

Runner Up 3MT Faculty RepresentativesThe runner-up was Dinithi Ranasinghe who received a $2000 research travel grant presented by Professor Andrew Brennan (PVC Graduate Research).  The runner-up must be prepared to represent La Trobe in Brisbane if the winner is unable to attend.
