In the 2012 Excellence for Research in Australia (ERA) La Trobe was ranked:

• the top ranked institution in Australia for research in Microbiology

• equal top (with one other institution) in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, and in Veterinary Science

• top ranking in Nursing, Other Medical and Health Science, Human Movement and Sports Science, and Analytical Chemistry

High profile research centres 

We have more than 30 fully-equipped research centres: 

• Our new AgriBio centre is a multi-million dollar investment in agricultural research and diagnostics.
• Our Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre (OTARC) is Australia's first centre dedicated to researching autism spectrum disorders.
• Our Centre for Sustainable Regional Communities was established in 1998 to create public discussion on how regional and rural communities can become more environmentally sustainable.
• Our La Trobe Research and Development Parks are the largest wholly university-owned and managed network of technology parks in Australia, spanning the Albury-Wodonga and Melbourne campuses.
