ECRN Peer Review Group

BREAKING NEWS! 100% success rate for PRG - Congratulations to Dr Belinda Abbott, Dr Raelene Wilding & Dr Gabrielle Murray who were recently awarded funding totalling $83,000 in the La Trobe University Research Grants Scheme. The researchers felt the feedback process of the PRG was invaluable to ensuring the success of their applications and would recommend it to others. They all look forward to using the process again this year as they continue to build on their grant success.

What is a peer review group?
An in-house peer review group is a voluntary group of researchers who:

  • agree to review applications which members will be submitting to funding agencies;
  • agree to submit their application to the group for review;
  • agree to undergo training.

Other key members of the group include senior research leaders and other mentors with experience on national or international peer review panels.

Why have in-house peer review?
The realities of the current landscape for reseachers has meant competition for scarce funding is increasing while the success rates of applicaations are falling. Establishing an in-house peer review group increase the robustness of your application and ensures that the funding body reviewers are never the first to critically review it.

How can Research Services help?
We can assist by identifying key players, advocates, mentors and reviewers to help the peer review group. We can also locate meeting space, organise training and invite interested people to share their experiences.
