Animal Research Ethics

The Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) at La Trobe University is comprised of representatives from the University, welfare organisations and the community and serves the following licensed Scientific Procedures Premises:

  • School of Molecular Sciences, Bundoora Campus and Bendigo Campus
  • School of Human Biosciences, Bundoora Campus
  • School of Life Sciences, Bundoora Campus
  • School of Psychological Sciences, Bundoora Campus
  • Department of Environmental Management and Ecology, Wodonga Campus

The persons nominated under Section 26(2) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986, to be responsible for any procedures carried out at the abovementioned premises, are appointed at the Head of School/organisational unit level.

The La Trobe University Animal Ethics Committee also services the Murray Darling Freshwater Research Centre.
