Certification of a Physical Containment Facility

All Physical Containment Facilities must be certified by the OGTR. The researcher must consider the type of facility type or level required to conduct their research in conjunction with the OGTR requirements.

Guidelines to Certification

Process for Certification

1. The researcher / lab supervisor must ensure that the proposed facility complies with the requirements for certification
2. An inspection by GMSC members must be arranged - contact GMSC secretary
3. Once the GMSC is satisfied that the facility meets the requirements the researcher / lab supervisor must complete an application
4. The completed application together with floorplans and any other additional attachments requested must be submitted to the GMSC
5. The application will be submitted to the OGTR for processing

Please note that the OGTR can take up to 90 days to assess the application. Once the facility is certified the researcher / lab supervisor must be aware and comply with the ongoing conditions of certification.
