Exempt Dealings

Dealings with GMOs that have been assessed as posing a low/negligible risk over a long period of time are classified as Exempt Dealings.

Exempt Dealings are described in Schedule 2 of the Regulations.

Containment

The OGTR have not specified the level of containment for Exempt Dealings but have issued guidance notes that are equivalent to PC1 requirements.

Application Process

Researchers planning to conduct a project with exempt dealings need to complete an application form and submit it to the GMSC for consideration.
