Dealings involving an Intention Release (DIR)

Dealings with GMOs involving an intentional release into the environment are classified as DIR. A licence must be obtained from the Office of Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) to conduct such work.

Application Process

Researchers planning to conduct a DIR must complete the appplication form and submit it to the GMSC for assessment. The application together with the GMSC assessment will be forwarded to the OGTR for consideration.
