ALS Conference 2009 - Instructions for authors

Please follow these instructions carefully. Abstracts that do not conform to the required format will be returned for reformatting.
Document Format and Layout: (set before you begin)
Paper size: A4
Margins: top, bottom, left and right set to 2 cm
Typeface and font: Times New Roman 11 point (unicode for non-Roman and IPA fonts)
Paragraph spacing: single spacing, 3pt after
Paragraph alignment: left aligned
Abstract Format:
TITLE: (upper case and bold)
Presentation details: (Full Presentation, Workshop Proposal or Poster)
If Workshop Proposal, please provide titles of other papers to be included in the Workshop.

Institutional affiliation(s) (typed immediately below author)

Abstract Length 400-450 words
[one line space]
List of References Left aligned, 1cm hanging indent
[one line space]
Keywords pick three to six words which define your paper

Contact details (postal address, phone, fax and email of submitting author(s))
Abstract Submission:
File type: Microsoft Word file with a “.doc” or ".rtf" extension (NOT .docx please).
File name: ALS2009-author surname(-1).
If you are submitting more than one abstract, please add -1, -2 etc.
Please submit the abstract as an email attachment to: als2009@latrobe.edu.au
The subject heading of the email MUST be “ALS2009 Abstract/Workshop Proposal - author surname”.
The submitting author will be sent an email advising the receipt of the abstract within 5 business days. If you do not receive it, contact the conference organizers.
Criteria on which abstracts will be evaluated:
- Clarity of abstract: is the question/issue addressed in the paper clearly stated?
- Appropriateness of methodology/design for the conclusions drawn
- Freshness/originality of the research
- Significance: is the scientific significance clear?; is the paper of methodological or theoretical importance?
- Interest: is the paper likely to be of interest to a reasonable number of ALS attendees?
- Papers not addressing the specific theme of the conference will not be disadvantaged.
