After the completion of a Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1994 (Jinan University, China), she obtained a Master Degree of Science specialising in Mental Health in 1999 at the University of Wollongong. She recently completed her PhD with the School of Public Health, Griffith University. The PhD thesis titled "Characteristics, competencies and Challenges: a quantitative and qualitative study of the senior health executive workforce in NSW, 1990-1999" She had been in a similar position in the School of Public Health, Griffith University for two and a half years before she joined School of Public Health, Latrobe University as a lecturer in June 2007. Before pursuing her academic career, she has had a wealth of experiences in working in the healthcare sector as a clinical practitioner, planning and evaluation consultant, and senior manager in a health-related organisation.
