Interests

Kathleen Gregory is a psychologist and co-ordinates the Master of Counselling and Human Services Program. She is currently undertaking studies towards a PhD (Deakin University) in the area of Buddhist studies. Her thesis includes analysis of the construction of 'Buddhism' in Western consciousness, textual elaboration of the philosophy of mind in Buddhist Abhidharma and the applicability of these understandings of mind to the relationship of self and the world in postmodern theory. She has been a regular presenter at the Evam Buddhist Institute in Melbourne on comparative philosophy and psychology (East and West) and has presented at the last three biannual Buddhism and Psychotherapy Conferences.

In the field of counselling practice Kathleen's research interests include the development of ethics and counsellor virtues, Narrative Therapy and constructivist approaches, cross-cultural issues and the philosophical underpinnings of counselling theory and practice. She is published in the journals Hysteric and Ordinary Mind.
