Interests
Chandana Unnithan joined the School of Public Health in late 2007 as a lecturer in Health Information Management and Informatics. She has had an eclectic career having spent the last 8 years as an academic within the disciplines of Information Systems and Management at RMIT University and Deakin University.
Before moving to Australia in late 1990s, she has had an international career having spent a significant time in the ICT industry, highlights being with IBM and TATAs of India. She has held varied roles from Business Analyst, to Project Manager and Knowledge Manager being involved with the successful implementation of technology and systems projects with innovative approaches in organisations.
Since moving into an academic role in 2001, she has published widely in the areas of Project Management, Information Systems management, E-commerce, E-Governance, Mobile and Communication technologies diffusion/applications and lately Health Informatics. She has special interest in the socio-cultural impact of introducing technological innovations and their impact on process enhancements. Her current research focuses on RFID applications in hospitals, evaluating their potential on improving efficiency of processes.
