Health Sciences Program

Master of Health Sciences

NOT OFFERED IN 2009

The Master of Health Sciences consists of coursework and a minor thesis. The course has an applied focus and aims to produce graduates who are able to develop and to translate health and health-related policy into effective programs and services, particularly in the specialist areas of primary health care, health promotion, health administration and rehabilitation counselling. Policy analysts, administrators, program coordinators, and health professionals are increasingly required to understand the social, political and economic context which influences the distribution of health outcomes, the resources available for the health system, the relationship between individual behaviour and health, and the demand for accountability. The course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to conduct applied research in health settings and to develop, implement and evaluate health-related programs and services. The course aims to meet the needs of health professionals who have assumed or are likely to assume responsibility for coordination and management of these programs and services.
