Palliative Care Program

Graduate Certificate in Health Promoting Palliative Care
Postgraduate Diploma in Health Promoting Palliative Care

These courses introduce the theory of health promotion practice as applied to palliative care. Students will have the opportunity to examine connections and make links between policy, organisation and practice in health promotion and in palliative care, and to develop skills for interventions at each of these levels. The overall objective of the course is to develop leaders with ideas for innovative practices in health promoting palliative care.

It is assumed that most students will have a background in one of the health professions. Consequently, the emphasis is on developing new skills that assist students to develop the health promotion aspects of their profession and apply these in the field of palliative care.

Admission Requirements

Applicants are normally required to hold a degree or three-year diploma in health sciences or in a related area. A special entry category exists for applicants without the regular qualifications. Where appropriate, selection criteria may include relevant work experience and skills. Special entry students may be required to undertake prerequisite studies.
