The Graduate Certificate can be taken part time over a period ranging from one to two years. The inclusion of the unit "Spirituality and Palliative Care" may make the graduate certificate of particular interest to pastoral care workers in the palliative care field.
All units in the graduate certificate are offered in distance mode, with provision for some face-to-face class meetings as negotiated.
Postgraduate Diploma in Health Promoting Palliative Care
The part-time course shares a common first year with the Postgraduate Diploma of Health Promotion. In the second year students will specialise in palliative care. The Postgraduate Diploma is structurally integrated with the Master of Health Sciences by coursework, enabling participants who perform at a high academic level to proceed with further studies.
The course will generally be undertaken on a part-time basis over two to five years. Students who enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Health Promotion or the Graduate Certificate of Health Promoting Palliative Care may apply to progress to the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Promoting Palliative Care. The Graduate Certificate will be subsumed upon completion of the Postgraduate Diploma.
Typical course pattern if 50% of full-time:
