Master of Health Information Management

    • Graduate-entry Master degree
    • 2 years full-time (or part-time equivalent)

Graduates will help to meet the very pressing demand across the health sector for experts in all areas of Health Information Management including:

    • Casemix and health classification
    • Management of health information systems
    • Health informatics
    • Analysis of health data
    • Research using health information

Who can apply?
Graduates of health disciplines such as medicine, nursing, biomedical science, and the allied health professions are invited to apply.

Graduates of non-health disciplines, eg computer science, teaching, arts and business are also encouraged to apply as this career offers a broad range of career opportunities.

What's involved?
This is a complex course and in order to provide a smooth transition into the Master degree, successful applicants will undertake a short, introductory 'Summer' or 'Winter' bridging course, depending on their academic background.

This Master degree includes excellent opportunities for 'hands-on' practical placement experience in health information management work environments across the health sector.

La Trobe Health Information Management has a reputation for rigorous academic teaching and for producing highly capable graduates with excellent practical skills for the rapidly changing healthcare workplace.

Very high achieving students will be invited to undertake a Master (Honours) degree; this takes an additional 6 months.

International students
If you're an international student, you will be qualified to return to your home country after completing the two-year Master degree, and achieve a substantial health information management role in a hospital, health service, health-related research centre or government health department.
