Cognitive Behavior Therapy Homework Project
The Cognitive Behavior Therapy Homework Project is team research project designed to examine the role of 'homework' activities in Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Between-session learning activities (or homework) are the main process by which clients transfer skills to the everyday situations in which they problems actually occur. The Cognitive Behavior Therapy Homework Project has been designed to address several broad objectives: (1) to conduct conventional and statistical reviews of the empirical literature, in order to clarify the current knowledge regarding homework effects in therapy, (2) to survey psychologists' use of homework assignments in clinical practice as a means of determining the necessity and utility of further research, (3) to design a theoretical model and associated treatment manual for the use of homework assignments in therapy, (4) to design conceptually-driven methods of assessing homework completion and therapist competence in using homework, and evaluate their psychometric properties, and (5) conduct prospective process and treatment outcome research to evaluate the utility of the theoretical model and associated treatment manual.
