Welcome to the School of Psychological Science
Participant Registry page for potential research participants. Thank
you for your interest.
In the School of Psychological Science,
staff and students conduct a wide variety of studies throughout
the year. The studies include topics such as interpersonal relationships,
decision-making, group behaviour, personality, learning and memory,
stress, health, alcohol and substance abuse. Some studies involve
questionnaires; others are experiments or computer tasks. Most sessions
last for less than one hour although some studies may involve follow-up
sessions. Some studies may offer you compensation for your time
or travel costs.
We are looking for new volunteers. If
you wish to volunteer, and if you are 18 years of age or older,
please complete the on-line application form below to have your
name placed on our list of volunteers. You may then be contacted
by phone or e-mail to discuss your involvement.
Your participation in any project is
completely voluntary. You are free to withdraw your consent to be
part of the volunteer registry at any time. In order to have your
details removed from the volunteer registry you can do so anytime
by contacting the Coordinator.
All information collected on this application
form is strictly confidential, and will be stored securely. Only
approved researchers will have access to these forms. Your contact
information will only be made available to researchers in the School
of Psychological Science who have been granted approval to use the
Registry. All projects have also been approved by the Faculty Human
Ethics Committee or LTU Human Ethics Committee. Volunteers will
be invited to participate in research projects for a period of up
to three years. Volunteers may opt to have their names and contact
details deleted after the current academic year or can serve two
or three years in the Registry with information deleted after that
time.
Upon arrival to a specific research study,
participants will receive an Information Sheet and Consent Form
that will detail who is running the research, the research aims,
procedures, benefits (or lack thereof), possible risks or discomforts
(if any), and whether there will be any compensation for your time.
In some cases, deception or concealment of a study’s true
objectives may be used for experimental purposes; in that case,
participants will be debriefed as to the nature and aims of the
research immediately following their participation, together with
the right to have the data arising from their participation withdrawn
from the research project.
If you have any complaints or queries
in relation to the volunteer participant registry that the Coordinator
has been unable to answer to your satisfaction, you may contact
the Ethics Liaison Officer, Human Ethics Committee, La Trobe University,
Victoria, 3086 (phone: 03 9479 1443 or email: humanethics@latrobe.edu.au)
or the Secretariat, Faculty Human Ethics Committee, Faculty of Science,
Technology and Engineering, telephone: 9479 1784.

You can also choose to submit your
form manually by printing out the form below and dropping it off
